Three-point bending performance of sandwich panels with various types of cores

In this paper, the bending performances of sandwich panels with corrugated triangular, honeycomb, aluminum foam, pyramidal truss, double sine (DSC), and 3D re-entrant auxetic cores are assessed compared, both experimentally numerically. Three-point experiments were performed on corrugated, truss core identical face-sheets height. The experimental numerical results compared well for honeycomb cores. Parametric studies subsequently performed, using ABAQUS, three distinct modes deformation identified. specific energy absorption (SEA) was found to increase relative density; one a will be shown have greatest SEA, same density, rests.
